“Qntal VI” or “Translucida” is the new album of Qntal and once again the trio Michael Popp – Philipp Groth – Syrah surprises with an enlightening piece of wafting-electro-medieval songs. It must be not that evident for a band to avoid repeating themselves after 5 albums, but Qntal already proved on their previous cd “Silver Swan” that they have some new ideas in mind. Their typical sound remains easily recognizable while the outstanding singing of Syrah is once more the main force of this release. She’s for sure one of the most talented vocalists from this scene, but a good vocalist without good music is nothing. Well, the sound on “Translucida” explores again more electronic arrangements without loosing the typical medieval and neo-classical touch or some bombastic drum parts on a few songs. Vocals and music merge together in a wave of ethereal reverie.
